Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting

  • Shortcut (⌘+Shift+S) for upload doesn't work and/or context menu item is missing

The shortcut and context menu upload is facilitated by OS X Services. If you are having trouble with either of these functionalities, go to the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen and open System Preferences. Select 'Keyboard' in the Hardware section and switch to 'Keyboard Shortcuts' tab. Select 'Services' from the list on the left side and find 'Share with Clipitto' on the right. The checkbox determines whether the item appears in the context menu and the shortcut represents the key combination that you can use within Finder to upload file(s). If no shortcut exists or if you are not comfortable with the existing one, change it to whatever setting you prefer.

If you don't find the item 'Share with Clipitto', try to reinstall the application in Mac App Store.

  • Can I move and/or rename the Clipitto default folder?

Yes, you can. Go to your Dropbox and navigate to the subfolder Apps. If you want to relocate, simply copy the folder Clipitto (⌘+C) and move it your desired destination (⌘+⌥+V). Don't forget that the folder cannot be placed outside of Dropbox.

If you want to rename it, just do it :-) Don't worry, it's absolutely safe.

  • Automatic screenshots uploading doesn't work

First, check if the feature is enabled in the preferences. If it still doesn't work, the folder where Clipitto expects screenshots to be saved might be set incorrectly. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the watched folder in the preferences yet (don't worry, we are working on it). In such a case, you have to manually delete the preferences file:

    1. Open Terminal (go to /Applications/Utilities or type Terminal in Spotlight)
    2. Run command 'rm -r ~/Library/Containers/com.appsdevteam.clipitto/' (without quotes)
    3. Restart Clipitto and enable screenshots autoupload
  • How to unlink Clipitto folder from Dropbox

    1. Sign in to your Dropbox account and go to Settings - Security (dropbox.com/account#security).
    2. Scroll down to Apps linked and uninstall Clipitto by clicking on the cross.
